Today
we are going to speak about one of the most wonderful things in the world.
Well, try to guess what it is:
“It has no mouth, but
speaks.
It is not alive, but it
can be a good friend.
It is not a tree, but it
has leaves”. What is it?

quotation? Who wants to share his opinion?

I
hope you recognized this old woman. She is the most famous narrator of Russian
folk tales. She had to learn English as she understood that it would be
impossible to live in the XXI century without knowing it. Now let’s have a
guessing quiz. Listen to the beginnings of different kinds of stories and try
to guess what story it is. Who wants to read?

Now,
let’s move a little. For that purpose we’ll make a structure called “Corners”.
There are different possible ways of reading books nowadays. Which of them will
you find better? Let’s see. If you prefer to watch a film instead of reading –
go to the first corner. If you find that you would rather listen an audio book
than read it – go to the second corner. If you can call yourself a digital
“teenager” and prefer to use an electronic device – go to the third corner. And
if you consider that there is nothing better than reading a printed book – go
to the fourth corner. (Students choose their corners). Now, Pair up. Explain
your choice to your new partner. Those who are taller will start talking first.
You will have 15 seconds. Go! The teacher asks some students to share their
opinions.

It’s a fairy tale. The main character of the
book is Dorothy. In the beginning of the story the author describes a little
house where Dorothy lived. The book describes the adventures of a little girl
in the magic country. Dorothy met here a lot of good friends. From the book
we learn that true friendship can do miracles.
The book is written by an American writer more than 100 years
ago. It describes the adventures of a boy. His name is Tom. Other characters
are children too. The action takes place in the state Missouri. The language
of the book is simple and colourful. The dialogues between heroes are funny
and expressive. I’m sure the book is worth reading. So, what is the title of
the book?
The book is written by an English writer in the 19th century. It
describes the adventures of a little girl. Her name is Alice. Other characters
are the white Rabbit, the Duck, the Mouse, the Dodo. In the beginning of the
story the author describes a white rabbit with pink eyes and a watch.
