TRAVELING
Millions
of people all over the world spend their holidays traveling. They travel to see
other countries and continents, modem cities and the ruins of ancient towns,
they travel to enjoy picturesque places, or just for a change of scene. It is
always interesting to discover new things, different ways of life, to meet
different people, to try different food, to listen to different musical
rhythms.
Those who
live in the country like to go to a big city and spend their time visiting
museums and art galleries, looking at shop windows and dining at exotic
restaurants. City - dwellers usually like a quiet holiday by the sea or in the
mountains, with nothing to do but walk and bathe and laze in the sun.
Most
travelers and holiday - makers take a camera with them and take pictures of
everything that interests them - the sights of a city, old churches and
castles, views of mountains, lakes, valleys, plains, waterfalls, forests;
different kinds of trees, flowers and plants, animals and birds.
Later,
perhaps years later, they will be reminded by the photos of the happy tune they
have had.
People
travel by train, by plane, by boat and by car.
All means
of travel have their advantages and disadvantages. And people choose one
according to their plans and destinations.
If we are
fond of traveling, we see and learn a lot of things that we can never see or
learn at home, though we may read about them in books and newspapers, and see
pictures of them on TV. The best way to study geography is to travel, and the
best way to get to know and understand the people is to meet them in their own
homes.

Traveling?
I think traveling is great. For me it's the best way to spend holidays, to
have rest
and to enjoy free time. That is why every time have a chance to go
somewhere I do it without any hesitation.
I like
everything connected with traveling: packing up the luggage, booking tickets
for a plane or a train, doing hundreds of preparations.
Yes, I
believe traveling is terrific: it is fun and a learning experience also,
because while traveling I get to know a lot about the places I visit, meet new
people and learn a lot about new cultures and traditions. Traveling helps me to
get away from my daily routine, and have a good time while traveling. Isn't
it fantastic?

terrific - классно
to get away from my daily routine - забывать о своих насущных проблемах
II Kate
Some
people call me a "couch potato", because I don't like to
travel. Why should I? Traveling is so troublesome. You have to think
about booking tickets, packing all the necessary things, choosing the place to
go and plan everything in advance - it's such a routine.
More than
that, traveling is dangerous now-a-days. I've heard a lot about air-crashes,
wrecked ships and many people killed in car accidents. Why should I get
on risk?
People
say that traveling is a good chance to see different places and to learn about
other countries and cultures. But I can easily do it at home. There are many
interesting educational programs on TV and there are a lot of books and
magazines about various places. They give me much information about
different countries and people. It is more comfortable and» less expensive.
III Nataly
Traveling?
I think it's great! It's the best way to enjoy your free time. For me,
traveling means rest first of all. And where can уоц spend your vacations better than abroad? New places, new people,
new lifestyles. If you get tired of all you have - the best way to have
rest is to go somewhere.
Are you

you. Are you fed up with your daily doldrums? - Go to the place where
everything is absolutely different. I think, traveling is the best way to get
rid of all the problems you face, all the troubles you have. It's your
opportunity to have rest, to enjoy freedom and to be yourself. All you need is
just relax, inhale fresh sea air, watch the yachts passing by,
get acquainted with new people. I like it all. Sun, sea, fresh air, freedom -
isn't it a paradise?

IV Steve
People
travel for many reasons. Some - for rest, others - for sightseeing,
still others -for status it involves. I am an interpreter, that's
why I mostly travel for business with my college eagues and boss.
Traveling is a part of my job. If my chief wants to go somewhere abroad
he takes me with him, other wise there won't be any negotiations
and meetings. I am the only person to help him to communicate with the
foreigners.
I would
say that I hate traveling. It takes too much time and effort. My
relatives don's like it either. I have to leave them for months, because
I've got some business trips. Some people say it's wonderful, but I
don't think so. Of course, I have an opportunity to see new lands, to visit
well-known historical places; but often I am too tired to go anywhere.
Meetings, discussions, negotiations - all is too tiresome. You think
about no think but rest. Rest and calmness are the only things, I long
for.
What's
more, while traveling you deal with a lot of strangers, and I
don't like it very much. So, you see, traveling isn't for me, is it?
couch potato - домосед
troublesome - проблематично
Why should - чего ради
in advance - заранее
dangerous, now a days - опасно, в наши дни

Why do people travel?
V Irena
Well, I
think that different people travel for different reasons. But the majority
of them, I believe, travel to see countries, places they've heard a lot about.
And I am one of them. Personally form, traveling is a wonderful opportunity
to experience a different way of life. I travel to see new lands, people,
new cultures. It's a good chance to learn a lot about foreign history,
traditions and customs. I like to see how other people live, what they
do, what they cat and what dresses they wear.
Traveling
gives me a good opportunity to see with my own eyes the castles, parks, memorials
and streets I've heard so much about.
Wise
people say: "One eyewitness is better than two hear - so's "
and I completely agree with them. It's fantastic to find myself in the center

walk along Broadway? I think it's superb.
