Music keeps me happy!

Form: 9th
 the 2nd of November
The theme: Music keeps me happy!
Aims of the lesson: To speak about music and to discuss the theme.
To develop pupils’ knowledge concerning the theme. To
develop pupils’ logical thinking, creative abilities and vocabulary.
To bring up to love nature, arts and music.

Visual aids: Active board, slides, pictures.
The type of the lesson: combined.
The procedure of the lesson: 

1. Organization moment
a) greeting
b) asking the date
2. Warm up. ‘’I wish you…’’

3. Checking up the home work.
Ex. 1 vocabulary
Ex. 10 writing.

4. Presentation.
- Look at the screen, you see a quotation, let’s translate it.
T: We are going to speak about music, because people can’t live without music.
Who is your favourite singer?
Who is your favourite group?
And do you know the most favourite singers of our region? Of course, they are Madina Eraliyeva and Roza Baglanova. Do you know their songs? Name them.
Roza Baglanova was born January 1, in 1922, in Kazalinsk, in Kzyl - Orda. She studied at the Kzyl – Orda Pedagogical Institute from 1939 to 1941. She was a Soviet and Kazakh soprano and pop singer who was honered with many awards. During her career she performed in many countries.
Baglanova was also included in the first edition of ‘’Women of the World’’, in the Anglo - American encyclopedia ‘’Who’s Who’’.
She died of a heart attack at the age of 89 in Alma - Ata.
Madina Eraliyeva was born in August 8, in 1954 in Kazalinsk, in Kzyl – Orda. She studied at the Kzyl – Orda Pedagogical college. She was a leading singer of Almaty Philharmonic. With her own manner of singing she became the very beloved singer of Kazakh country.

Let’s play a game ‘’Guess the melody’’
Reading the text.
a) Read what Sue, a teenager, says about music
b) Read what her Grandmother says.

Now, have you ever heard about ‘’Beatles’’?
The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960 who became the most successful and critically acclaimed act in the history of popular music. The group consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Star.
- Listen to their song ‘’Yesterday’’
- Look at the screen, you can see the words of the song, but some words are missing. You must fill in the missing words. ( a song)
5. Conclusion.
- Let’s draw a table of three columns.
In the 1st you must write what you know about music.
In the 3rd you must write what you have learnt today.
In the 2nd you must write what you want to know.

Want to know

It is really important to speak about music and songs as a part of the culture of another country. Music and songs are the key to understanding of the language and the culture of the other countries.
6. Homework
Write short information about your favourite singer.
7. Marks.
At the end of the lesson I want to return to the guotation ‘’Music is universal language of the world” says Longfellow, so speak it, sing it, listen to it, do your best.

                     Theme:  Music keeps me happy!

The aim of the lesson: Pupils can know music in Britain and speak in                            English, answer the questions each other.

Task: 1 Bound by meaning. Reading the text, open the meaning. Make up sentences and learn to speak.

2 Develop RWCT. Pupils investigate grammar structure.

       3. Work with group. They can work with a small group and

 do conclusion answer the question of another group.

Visual aids: Book, picture, crossword, cards.

Strategy: Semantic map, Venn diagram, question-answer.

Mark: Answer of group in written form.

                                        Point of the lesson

  1. Evocation.

How do you think, what do people like doing in their free time? As for me I like reading and listening to music. What about you? What do you like doing in your free time?

  • I like listen to music.

That`s why our new theme is `Music keeps me happy`. We`ll read the dialogue between Bob and Sue and translate it.  And the next part B.

Who act roles Eddie and Jane?

                           2. Realizition.

 Everybody look at the blackboard. What kind of music do you know?

Pupils, look at these instruments. What are they? What names are these instruments?   They are: drum, harmony, saxophonist, piano. There are some questions under these instruments.


1. Do you like listen to music?

2. Do you know Kazakh singers and American singers?

3. Who is your favourite  singer?

4. What instrument can you play?

5. Can you listen music all day ?

Ex 3. A. Read about Sue and translate it.

         B. Read about Sue`s grandmother and translate it.

Do you agree with Sue?

     Do you agree with her grandmother?

    Ex5. Talk about these questions with another student.

   Do you think many young  people are like Sue?

   Is it a bad thing to listen to music all the time? Why / not/?

   Are you like Sue? Is anyone in your family like Sue`s grandmother?

    Game: Find the words in the chart.

     Rock, concert, classical, jazz, music, pop, saxophonist, guitar, orchestra, piano.

III. Reflection.

 Our the next task is ‘ Differences and Similarites’.

   You must write about Kazakh and American music. What do you know about it?

Цели урока:

  1. Повторить и закрепить пословицы и высказывания о книгах и музыке, изученный лексический и грамматический материал.

  2. Развивать логическое мышление и память.

  3. Расширять кругозор учащихся, развивать их языковые, интеллектуальные и познавательные способности.

  4. Показать значимость чтения и музыки в жизни человека, формировать положительное отношение к книге и музыке.

  5. Учить работать в паре, группе или команде, вместе решать поставленные задачи и добиваться положительных результатов.

Оформление доски и класса:

  1. Портреты известных русских, английских и американских писателей и поэтов, известных композиторов.

  2. Высказывания и пословицы о книгах и чтении и о музыке.

  3. Иллюстрации к книгам и изображения нот.

  4. Проекты учащихся «Литературная Британия» и «Литературная Россия», «Музыкальная Британия» и «Музыкальная Россия».

Данный урок проводился в 9-м классе. Обучение ведется по учебнику Кузовлева В.П.

Ход урока

I. Урок начинается с оргмомента. С самой первой минуты урока фоном тихо звучит спокойная классическая музыка, композиции Поля Мориа или другая инструментальная музыка. 
II. Урок начинается с фонзарядки. Учащиеся повторяют изученные высказывания и пословицы:

  • Man cannot live by bread alone.

  • Eat to live, not live to eat.

  • Reading makes a full man /Fr. Bacon/

  • Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body /R. Steele/

  • Wear the old coat and buy a new book.

  • A room without books is a body without a soul

  • Music makes a full man.

  • Music is to the mind what exercise is to the body

Учащиеся по очереди читают и переводят все эти пословицы и высказывания, а затем отвечают на вопрос учителя: Whatarewegoingtotalkabouttoday?
St.1: Today we’ll talk about music.
St.2: We are going to talk about books and reading.
St.3: Today we’ll talk about music and books
и т.д
Выслушав ответы учащихся, учитель подводит итог сказанномуYouareright.Today we are going to talk about music and books and their role in our life. 
III. Во время первого задания учащиеся работают в группах. Каждая группа получает набор слов, выражений и предложений, которые были изучены при работе над темами «Books and Reading» и «Music» (Многие из этих выражений будут использоваться и при изучении других тем 9-го класса: «TV», «Newspapers and Magazines», «School Education»).

Группа 2: tuneless; eloquent; breathtaking; to discover, to create, to imagine, to explore; both a pastime and a means of education; the perfect way to entertain; to make sbd think; to escape from everyday life problems; to learn a lot of interesting things; to broaden one’s outlook upon life; It provokes powerful and complex feelings in one’s hearts; It relaxes; It makes me cry; It makes sbd happy/sad.
Группа 3: romantic; sweet; melancholy; sentimental; overwhelming; fascinating; to widen one’s knowledge; to understand the beauty ant wisdom of the world; the greatest human property; to expand one’s vocabulary; to develop one’s mind and imagination; It makes us think of people and places we love; It evokes long forgotten events; It leaves sbd indifferent. 
После того как учащиеся самостоятельно прочитали и перевели всю лексику по темам, учитель показывает карточки всему классу и учащиеся повторяют хором. Затем учитель предлагает учащимся ответить на вопросы, используя эту лексику.

St.3: We can’t live without traveling.
St. 4: We can’t live without air and water.
St. 5: We can’t live without computers and mobile phones.

St.2: Sport is more important.
St.3: Family is more important than bread because man eat to live but not live to eat.

St.1: People like reading because books are the perfect way to relax and to entertain.
St.2: Reading books we get a lot interesting, useful and necessary information.

St.5: Books help us to discover, to create, to imagine, to explore. 
St. 6: Reading is both a pastime and a means of education.

Задача учащихсяправильно и как можно быстрее распределить авторов и произведения. После этого учащиеся составляют предложения: … wrote «…» или «…» is written by …
учащиеся составляют рассказ о любом из предложенных писателей:

Далее учащимся предлагается несколько музыкальных иллюстраций: песня В. Высоцкого «Этот рассказ мы с загадки начнем…» к сказке «Алиса в стране чудес», песня Винни-Пуха, увертюра к советскому кинофильму «Шерлок Холмс и доктор Ватсон», песня М.Дунаевского «Леди Совершенство» из «Мэри Поппинс», два музыкальных фрагмента Алексея Рыбникова из мультфильма «Остров сокровищ». Задача учащихся – определить, к какой книге подходит эта музыка, и высказать свое отношение к услышанному.

V. Следующий этап урока проводится по принципу игр «Угадай мелодию» и «Звездный час». Учащимся выдаются карточки с цифрами от 0 до 9, на доске (на экране) появляются фамилии всемирно-известных композиторов:

Цель данного урока, развивать у учеников эстетическое восприятие мира, умение ценить прекрасное в искусстве. Обеспечить в ходе урока усвоение учащимися лексики по данной теме. Содействовать формированию уважительного отношения ко всем направлениям в музыке. Развивать навыки чтения, говорения.

Music is a language which speaks to everyone from the day we are born we hear music of some kind most day of our lives.
