Good morning, students! Hello, everyone! How are you?
How are things? Students, today before going to college I was listening to my favourite song by one famous group. I was so much pleased. Guess what the group is, what the song is.

Your task, students, is to remember what musicians and musical groups of English-speaking countries you know, you learned at the last lesson. You must tell about them and do the test in comprehensive listening. Look at these portraits! You can learn something interesting. So, let’s begin.

Students, let’s talk about music.
-What is music? Music is a combination of sounds. Do you agree with me?

-What musical genres do you know?
-What is your favourite musical genre?

On the placard you see the names of British, American and Sweden musicians. What you are to do is to match the number of the texts with one of these names.
For example, this text is about…

This group was and is one of the most famous rock groups in all the world. It was founded in 1959 in England. It was named “The Liverpool Four”. The leader of the group was Jonn Lennon. The musicians played “psychedelic” rock, then rock-n –roll. Their songs “Yesterday”, “I Love You”, “Yellow Submarine” and others made the group famous all over the world.
This singer was named “The King of Rock”. He was born in 1935 in America. He was a singer and guitar player who made rock’n’roll (later called rock) popular in the 50s.From 1956-1963, he was the most successful and influential person in popular music. He is often called the father (or founder) of rock.
It was the first non-Anglo-Saxon pop-group, which was founded in 1972. The performers were Sweden musicians and singers. Their famous singles are “Mamma mia”, “Money, money, money”, “Dancing Queen” and so on. Their music was very tuneful, amazing and catchy.
This famous singer was born in Ontario, Canada in 1959. His mother was an English teacher, his father was in the army. When a boy of 12 his parents divorced. In 1992 his single “Everything I Do (I Do It For You) broke records In 13 countries, it was number one in the UK pop charts for 17 weeks. The musician is the biggest rock star of Canada.
