Theme: Let’s review and remember. Vocabulary and
Grammar
Type of the lesson:
Competition
Aims: a)
students consolidate the vocabulary and grammar
b) students review some interesting facts from
the texts: “Gulliver’s Travels” and “The
Adventure of Tom Sawyer”
c) student’s develop their language skills:
speaking, listening, writing
d) student’s develop their memory and social
skills (work in group)
Necessary material:
cards, sheets of paper and pencils
Procedure
I. Organization moment
1) Greeting: Good afternoon, students, Glad to see you. How
are you?
2) Setting the aims: Today we are going to play. This game
will show us the results of our work. Now listen to the rules of the game.
The rule: You
are divided into 2 groups. On the Blackboard you can see a table with themes.
It means that every theme has questions and every question has a mark.
If you choose number “5”
– it means that if you give right answer, your group will get 5 points and you
will get a card. But if you make a mistake the opposite group has a chance to
give their answer and to get a point or more.
If everything is clear, let’s start and I wish you good
luck.

Teacher: Ok. It’s not difficult task. You have to make a
translation of some words.

group to make their choice. Please.

Teacher: Good way. Your task is to retell the story

Teacher: Ok. Good way. Try to avoid mistakes, because it is
“Sequence of Tenses”. Be very attentive and translate the sentences as
correctly as you can.

Key: Lemuel G. found himself in the land of Lilliputian after the shipwreck. The people who lived there were very small. They called
Gulliver the Great Man-mountain and thought that he was dangerous: he was so
big in size that he could destroy their city. But Gulliver soon won the hearts
of Lilliputians because of his good behavior, clever talks, quiet and gentle
manners and wishes to help them.

when he saw that the beautiful girl had noticed him, he pretended he did not
know she was present, and began to show off in all sorts of boyish ways: he
stood on his hands, he picked up a straw and began to balance it on his nose,
which was not an easy thing to do.
