1.Teacher: Welcome
to our party devoted to W. Shakespeare.
I‘ll
read about the biography of W. Shakespeare.
William
Shakespeare was one of the greatest and most famous writers of the world. Many
people know and like his works but many facts of Shakespeare’s life are still
unknown. William Shakespeare was born in 1564 in Stratford-on-Avon, a small
English town. His father, John Shakespeare, came to Stratford from a village
and opened a shop there. His business was making and selling leather gloves.
John never became a rich man, but at one time he was an important official in
the city. William Shakespeare studied at local grammar school because his
father wanted his son to be an educated person. At the age of 19 he got married
to Anne Hathaway, a farmer’s daughter, some years older than himself, and they had
3 daughters. He lived in Stratford until he was 21. Young William liked to
watch actors and actresses who visited his native town. He was fond of actor’s
profession and decided to become an actor. With this purpose he went to London,
leaving Anne and children at home.
Soon
he began to act and to write plays. In his works he described the events of
England's life. His plays that were staged in many theаtres
and which then translated into many languages made Shakespeare a very popular
person. By 1592 he was an important member of a well-known acting company. In
1599 the famous Globe Theatre was built on the south bank of the river Thames.
It was in his theatre that most of Shakespeare's plays were performed.
By
1603 William was already the leading poet and dramatist of his time. In all he
wrote 37 plays although few were published in his lifetime. His best and the
most famous plays are «Othello», «King Lear», «Hamlet», «Richard III», «The
Comedy of Errors», «Romeo and Juliet» and many others, which are staged in all
major theatres throughout the world.

copied be; within that circle none durst walk but he.”
The
command “The Sonnet”- ”The stream of time, which is
continually washing the dissoluble fabrics of other poets, passes without
injury by the adamant of Shakespeare.”
3.
The task №1.The best reader.
(В
конкурсе на лучшего чтеца учащийся из каждой команды читает отрывок из
произведения.)
The
sonnet №66
Tir’d
with all these, for restful death I cry,
As
to behold desert a beggar born,
And
nearly nothing trimm’d in jolity,
And
purest faith unhappily, forsworn,
And
gilded honour shamefully misplaced,
And
maiden virtue rudely strumpeted,
And
right perfection wrongfully disgraced,
And
strength by limping sway disabled,
And
art made tongue-tired by authority,
And
folly doctor-like controlling skill,
And
simple truth miscall’d simplicity,
And
captive good attending Captain Ill,
Tir’d
with all these’ from these would I begone,
Save
that to die I live my love alone.
The
sonnet №90
Then
hate me thou wilt; if ever now;
Now,
while the worldis bent my deeds to cross,
Join
with the spite of fortune, make me bow,
And
do not drop in for an after-loss:
Ah,
do not, when my heart hath scoped this sorrow,
Come
in the rearward of a conquer’d woe;
Give
not a windy night a rainy morrow,
To
linger out a purposed overthrow,
If
thou wit leave me, do not leave last,
When
other pretty griefs have done their spite
But
in the onset come; so shall I taste
At
first the very worst of fortune’s might,
And
other strains of woe, which now seem woe,
Compared
with loss of thee will not seem so.
4.The
task №2.Guess the pictures.
(Каждая
команда должна угадать произведения по картинкам.Презентация, слайд №2)
“Romeo
and Juliet” “Anthony and Cleopatra”
5.The
task №3.Guess the names of plays.
(По
отрывкам учащиеся должны отгадать названия произведения.)
1)
To
be, or not to be, that is the question: -
Whether
'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The
slings and arrows of outrageous fortune:
Or
to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And
by opposing, end them? - To die -; to sleep,
No
more; - and, by a sleep, to say we end
The
heart ache, and the thousand natural shocks
That
flesh in heir to, - 'tis a consummation
Devoutly
to be wish 'd. To die; - to sleep; -
To
sleep!
(«Hamlet»)
2)
It was the lark, the herald of the morn,
No
nightingale: look, love, what envious streaks.
Do
lace the severing clouds in yonder east:
Night's
candles are burnt out, and jocund day
Stands
tiptoe on the misty mountain tops:
I
must be gone and live, or stay and die.
(«Romeo
and Juliet»)

Key:
tragedy, Macbeth, Othello, William, sonnet, comedy, Stratford, Hamlet,
Shakespeare, Henley, Romeo, Juliet.
9.Result.
Teacher: Dear friends. You have learnt a lot of things about Shakespeare’s
family, about his native town, about his place and his sonnets. You have seen
the playing «Romeo and Juliet», «Othello». I think it was very interesting you
will remember our party for a long time. Shakespeare was a great poet. He was
“for all time”.
Teacher:
Dear friends! Our game is over. We hope you liked it. Good-bye.
