-So you can see that British
people like to listen to the radio especially in the morning. And now it is
interesting to find out your opinion about radio and TV. Let’s read and
answer the questions from exercise 9, page 146. We shall work in a chain:
read the question and ask one of your classmates to answer it.

- I usually
listen to the radio in the morning.
-I prefer to
listen to the musical radio programmes.
-I know such
Russian radio stations as “Mayak”,
“Russkoye
radio”, “Humor FM”. I listen to “Humor FM” regularly. “Virgin” radio is a
British radio station. I don’t know any American radio station. I have never
listened to British and American radio stations.
-I prefer to
watch TV, because I have no radio.

We shall learn
some new words on the topic “Free Time”. Look at the screen, please. Read the
words from the screen (comedy, political, popular, musical, soap, show),
write them dawn and try to guess their meaning. Use your dictionaries if it
is necessary. (Slide 7). Check yourself: comedy - комедия, political - политический, popular - популярный, musical – мюзикл, музыкальный, soap – мыло, мыльная опера, сериал на семейные и бытовые темы, show – шоу, зрелище.

We have found
out that most of us like watching TV. British people also like watching TV
and about 5% of them watch most of TV programmes regularly. Look through the
TV schedule in exercise 10, page 147 and answer the following questions.

1) A) Political
programmes and news: News, Regional News, Weather; Calendar News and Weather;
Panorama.
B) Sports
programmes: Skiing, Word Motor Sport, Sledge Racing.
C) Music
programmes: Going for a Song.
D) Soap operas:
Coronation Street (Soap).
2) Programmes for
children have more time given to them (more than 4 hours) then others.
3) Time from 7:00 pm to
11:00 pm is the
best time for television.
Panorama and Sledge Racing are on at prime time. I think these programmes
are on then because British people want to know that happened in their
country and in the word during the day and, may be, they are great fans of Sledge Racing!

At
this lesson we told about radio and TV in our life. We told that English
people prefer to watch or listen to. Say me please which do you prefer: TV or
radio? What TV/ radio programmes do you like to watch/ to listen to? Try to use
new words.
Thank
you for your job. It’s time to give your home work. At home you’ll compare
the British TV programme with any Russian one and try to find the differences
(ex. 11 p. 147).
