The theme: Garbage disposal

Aims of the lesson: to develop communicative skills and abilities through different communicative activities; to encourage the use of language in group and in pair work; to check pupils’ ability in using the words covered in the situation “Garbage disposal”

Type of the lesson: revision, competition

Methods of teaching: question-answer, associating method, explanation, group work


The procedure of the lesson.


  1. Organization moment.

  • I’m glad to see you again. Sit down, please.

  • Who is on duty today?

  • What date is it today?

  • What date was it yesterday?

  • You will have to show your best knowledge.

  1. Phonetic drill.

Let’s study a rhyme.

Leaving litter is a sin

So find a bin to put it in”

Sin – /грех/

Bin – ящик для мусора

  1. Now, students what’s this?

It’s a clean, white, new sheet of paper and now it’s a garbage.

  1. New theme.

The theme of our lesson is “Garbage disposal”. Do you know the synonyms of the word garbage.

  1. Now, open your books at page 126, Ex4. Try to find new words in the text and read the sentences and try to translate it into your native language.

  2. Now, students read the text attentively. Then your task will be if the sentences that I read is true clap your hands if it’s false don’t clap your hands. Please, close your books.

  1. Let’s image that we live in Japan, in Machida. You know from the text that they divide their garbage into 6 categories: your task will be to take one of the word and put it in the right bin.

  1. Now students your next task will be to change each sentences into a question. Answer each question with a short answer and name the tense.

  2. People don’t always put their garbage in the garbage bins.

  3. Animals sometimes carry disease.

  4. The wind blows papers far away.


  1. Work in group.

Your task is write some rules for people to keep our planet clean and discuss them. The leader of the group will come to the blackboard and read your rules.

  1. To keep the streets, village tidy.

  2. Don’t throw the papers, cans.

  3. To sweep the place near the house.

  4. Litter is ugly.

  5. Litter makes the village look ugly.

  6. Litter spoils the view.

  1. Home task.

You are correspondents of a newspaper. Write an article for your newspaper about how to protect the environment “Garbage disposal”
