The objectives of the lesson:


  1. to revise vocabulary;


  1. to talk about exercise, food, sport stars and diets;


  1. to practice monological and dialogical speech;


  1. to give presentation about pupils’ favourite sports;


  1. to develop the pupils’ attention and memory, creative abilities, interest to their health.


Equipment: An interactive board, pictures, flash cards, computer.

The Procedure of the lesson


I. Organization moment.

  • Greetings.

  • Naming the theme and the objectives of the lesson.

II. Phonetic drill.

  1. Health is above wealth.

  2. An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

  3. Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy and wise.

III. Warming up.

  1. It is important to stress the need for a balanced diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables and not too many sweets, chocolate, fast food, (like hamburgers and chips) and sweet, fizzy drinks. What food do you know? Which food and drinks are good for sports people?

  2. Ex, 2 p, 26: Copy and complete the table. (Students work in pairs)

IV. Listening. Reading. Food for Sport.

Listen to the radio interview and complete the gaps.

2. Answer the questions:

  • What ideas are for footballers’ food?

  • What is food experts’ advice for tennis players?

  • What is good for swimmers?

3.Find «unhealthy food» and «healthy food» in the text.

You should do regular exercises to keep fit.

You should eat healthy food (fruit, vegetables, lots of salad) to keep fit.

You should go in for sports to keep fit.

You shouldn’t eat unfresh food.
