и мотивация интереса учащихся к изучению английского языка и культуры
Великобритании.

у учащихся стремление к изучению английского языка;

уважение к культуре и традициям других народов.
Развивающие:
1. развивать
творческую фантазию, познавательный интерес, инициативу в осуществлении речевой
деятельности.
Практические:
1. Повторение,
обобщение и систематизирование учебного материала страноведческого характера по
Великобритании (активизация имеющихся у учащихся знаний, полученных на уроках
английского языка).
2. расширять
базовый уровень знаний учащихся о культуре Великобритании на основе
лексико-грамматического и страноведческого материала;
3. тренировать
учащихся в применении лексики по теме в виде монологической речи;
4. активизировать
применение учебных умений и навыков в нестандартных условиях

we are going to have virtual travel. I’m sure you’ve got much information about
this wonderful country at your English lessons.

And
now you will have a good opportunity to show your knowledge of the matter by
taking part in our competition. I wish you success. Be attentive. Let`s guess
our theme. Look at the firs slide and say what theme is today at our lesson.

Look
at the map. There you can see Great Britain which consists of 4 parts:
first
task-
match the name of each part of the country with the map (Scotland on the north,
England on the south, Wales is near England and the small part of the country
is Northern Ireland is on the east)
second
task
– match the capital of each part of the country with the map (All the parts
have their capital. England – London. Wales – Cardiff, Scotland – Edinburgh,
Northern Ireland – Belfast)
third
task
– match the symbol of each part of the country witch the map (You know that
every country have the symbols. Let’s repeat some of them. I will show you and
you tell me whose symbol is it)
- I welcome you to London. London is one of the largest cities
in the world. About seven million people live here. London is more than two
thousand years old. London’s most famous sights are Tower Bridge, Big Ben and
the Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square and St.Paul’s Cathedral.

Palace
It
is the London home of the Queen. When the flag is flying on the top she is at
home. Here you can see the changing the Guard. It happens every day at 11:30
a.m.
The
Houses of Parliament
The
Houses of Parliament is the seat of the British government (правительство). Big Ben is one
of the most famous clocks in the world.
Westminster
Abbey
It
is royal church (королевская церковь). Here you can
see the tombs (могилы) of the many British kings and queens and other
famous people and the beautiful Henry VII Chapel (часовня).
Trafalgar
Square
On
the column in the center there is a statue of Admiral Nelson who defeated
(победил) the French at
the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.

I want to tell you about London. It is a
very beautiful city. I'm sure that visitors to London often prefer to travel by
bus, because they can see a lot of interesting places from the top of a
double-decker.
The famous river Thames runs
through London. Tourists can visit the Tower of London. It was built in
the 11th century. It was a fortress, a royal palace and later a
prison. Now the Tower of London is a museum. Across the Thames there is Tower
Bridge.
Buckingham Palace is
the London home of the British Queen. When the flag is flying on the
top, she is at home.
Tourists
can also visit Trafalgar Square, where people from all parts of London
celebrate New Year.
There
a lot of parks and gardens in London. In Regent’s Park there is the
London Zoo, one of the biggest zoos in the world.
Certainly
visitors can see the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, the most famous
clocks in the world.
Westminster
Abby is a royal church. Here you can see tombs of many British Kings and
queens and other famous people. The second famous church is St. Paul’s
Chathedral.
The
London Eye is
the largest observation wheel in the world.

Windsor
Castle has been the home of kings and queens for nearly nine centuries. It was
built as a fortress by William the Conqueror. Windsor Castle is one of the few
royal residences in the country, the other two residences are Buckingham Palace
in London and Holyrood house in Edinburgh. Windsor Castle is much used by the
Queen and her family at weekends. There is also a large family gathering in the
castle at Christmas.
Let`s speak about Queen- Elizabeth II. I give you a
comics. You must the picture and phrases to the definition.

The Queen opened
Buckingham Palace to the public for the first time in 1993. Why? Because she
needed money after a big fire at Windsor Castle. The fire lasted for 15 hours
and it destroyed a lot of rooms.

Buckingham Palace has
more than 500 rooms and 78 bathrooms. 19 of the rooms are open to the public
for two months each year. Windsor Castle is a lot bigger - it has over 1,000
rooms!

tourists stand in front of the palace to watch the Changing of the Guard. The
Guards wear red jackets and 'bearskins' (very big black hats). They mustn't
smile at the tourists when they are working. This is sometimes very difficult!

The gardens at
Buckingham Palace are very big. In 2002, the Queen had a big pop concert there
to celebrate 50 years of being Queen. She also has big tea parties there and
invites different people to them. For a picnic, go to Windsor. The gardens
there are bigger and they are always open.

In 1982 the Queen
woke up at Buckingham Palace with a surprise. There was a strange man sitting
on her bed! His name was Michael Fagan. They talked for half an hour. Fagan
asked the queen for a cigarette, but she couldn't give him one. She doesn't
smoke. There are 200 bedrooms in the Palace. How did he find the right one?
