The theme of the lesson: Special people

Focus: - Enrich pupils` knowledge about adjectives;

  • To develop pupils` abilities for their self-study and for searching, analyzing and selecting necessary information.

The aims of the lesson:
1. Bringing up aims: to develop communicative skills and abilities through different communicative activities
2. Training up aims: to encourage real use of language in group and pair work.
3. Learning up aims: to check the students’ abilities in using the words covered in the theme “Comparisons of adjectives”

The visual aids of the lesson: Active board, posters, pupil`s project (creative work)

The type of the lesson: a journal



The procedure of the lesson:

1. Organization moment.
- Greeting the pupils.
- Good morning, students
- Who is on duty today?
- Who is absent?
- Well, thank you

2. Warm - up.
- And now students let’s begin today’s lesson. As you know we have review lesson on the grammar theme “Adjectives”. But before beginning our lesson let’s warm - up as a rule.
Reading the poem. “Who is faster?”
- Good, better, best,
- Never, never rest.
- Till your good is better,
- And your better best.
3. Checking up the homework.
- I think that it’s time for our homework. What was your homework for today. Did you find the answers? Was it difficult? Let’s check. Well done.

  1. To answer the questions and show who is

The youngest?

The tallest?

Has got the longest hair?

Has got the shortest hair?

The strongest?

4. “A known fact” “Bag of ideas” method of critical thinking development

1st task to name the kinds of comparisons

2nd task to name the kinds of adjectives

3rd task to give examples for the each kind, explaining the rule


5. Work with the text “Special people”. This text is about the people which were written in the Guinness Book of Records.

A) To read the text

b) To complete the sentences: funniest, shortest, hottest, largest, biggest

6. “The young researcher” (Creative work of pupils)

7. Vocabulary work:

Prime minister – премьер министр

chemistry – химия

8. Work with the Text “Margaret Thatcher”

We have looked through our vocabulary and now we may start to work with the text.

9. Writing. Picture Gallery

-We have analyzed the Guinness Book of Records. And our next task is “Picture Gallery”. There are some photos of outstanding people. You  have  to  find  out  who  is  who, and make  up  sentences  of  your  own  using  grammar  rule .-Now  who  is  this ?  Why are they special? Abai Kunanbayev, Bibigul Tulegenova, “The Beatles”
10. Christmas song “We wish you a merry Christmas”

- And what about your marks?

12. Home-Assignment

  • 1. To complete the questions about Margaret Thatcher
