Ход урока.

Орг. момент.

Good morning children and our guests! I am very glad to see you! How are you? (Fine, thanks). What is the weather like today? (Today is cold, windy and cloudy). Today is the 23d of December. And we are beginning our lesson. Are you ready? (Yes, we are ready). Look at the blackboard please! What do you think, what is our theme today? (Christmas). That’s right. We’ll speak about one of the most favourite holiday of British and American children. It’s Christmas! Also, we will speak about Christmas decorations, Christmas traditional food. You’ll listen to the tape, play, sing a song and make a Christmas postcard.

And now let’s remember new words. Repeat after me all together.

Star, angels, Christmas carols, Santa Claus or Father Frost, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, an elf – elves, chimney, fireplace, stockings, Christmas tree, balls, bells, candles, snowflakes, Christmas letters, snowman, Christmas presents, Christmas cookies.

. Practising new vocabulary

T: Look at our Cristmas-tree! It’s very nice, isn’t it? But it has no toys. Let’s decorate it right now! Please, come to the blackboard, take any toy you like, name it and hang on the Christmas tree.

Oh, look at our Christmas tree! How beautiful it is now! It’s time to lay the table. I’ll read about some popular Christmas dishes. Try to guess them.

It’s the main Christmas dish.

P1: It’s a roast turkey.

T: The British put a coin inside it for good luck. It has a piece of evergreen holly on the top. They have it with cream.

P2: Christmas pudding.

T: It’s a small round pie with a sweet mixture of berries, apples, nuts, raisins and sugar.

P3: Mince pies.

T: This bird was a symbol of life. To eat the bird meant to make your life longer. It’s usually served with vegetables.

P4: Goose with vegetables.

Our Christmas table is full of different dishes. We are ready to celebrate this wonderful holiday. Do you know what British speak each other on this day? Look at the blackboard!

And now let’s sing a nice Christmas song and wish each other Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Writing a postcard.

I’m sure now you know a lot about Christmas and New Year. One of the traditions is writing postcards to your relatives, to your friends. Let’s write a postcard to…Father Frost. Ask him to bring you a present and describe it. Don’t forget to thank Father Frost and Snowmaiden. Then show us your cards and read them.

For exempel:

Dear Father Frost,

I’d like a new doll. It’s a nice ballerina. She has a pink dress and pink shoes on. She can dance. Her name’s Bella.

Thanks a lot.

Данная разработка предназначена для проведения урока английского языка по теме " Рождество", для детей, учащихся третьего класса занимающихся по учебно- методическому комплексу "Spotlight". Урок построен главным образом на применении игровых технологий, что способствует повышению интереса и мотивации у детей младшего школьного возраста. Рекомендуется проводить как итоговое занятие в конце второй четверти.
