Kind of the lesson: Practical

Aims:

·       to form Ss’ listening, reading, writing, speaking skills and habits on the theme “Food”, using new vocabulary, Present Simple and the First Conditional;

·       to develop Ss’ ability of  thinking ( to compare, analyse and summarize facts on the theme), Ss’ memory, their ability to work in pairs and groups;

·       to teach Ss to keep fit, to care about their health, to eat healthy food, to respect each others’ opinions.

Objectives: SWBAT practice using new vocabulary and new grammar: the First Conditional in interactive exercises, listen to an information poster “The healthy eating pyramid” and answer the questions, read the text about healthy food and diet and write True/ False exercise, talk about healthy eating, sing a thematic song, express their own opinion on the theme, work in pairs and groups.

Items Needed: an interactive board, a CD player, thematic pictures, posters, a grammar table, lists with the text, two lists of white paper, felt-tip pens, a bag with food subjects, a slogan

 

Procedure

I. Greeting, duty’s report. 1 m.

II. Warm- up.

1.     T’s questions: What is your favorite fruit/vegetable/drink?

                         What do you usually eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner/supper?

                         Which food makes strong teeth and bones?

                          Why are lots of cakes and chips not a good idea? 2 m.

2.     Complete the word map with the words in the box. ( an interactive board) 3m.

III. Consolidation of the new vocabulary.

V. Practice of the First conditional.

Use the first conditional to talk about things that might happen in the future.

 

If  you  eat healthily, you will feel great.

 

You won’t be healthy if you don’t eat lots of vegetables.

 

Will I be healthy if I eat fast food? No, you won’t.

 

Will I get ill if I don’t eat fruit? Yes, you will.

 

2.     Work in pairs. Find and underline the if-clauses. (lists with the text) 2m.

 

                      “Healthy children eat healthy food”

 

If you eat healthy food, you will be strong and have lots of energy. Healthy food doesn’t have much sugar, salt or fat and it isn’t made with additives. If you eat well, you won’t get ill very often and if you have lots of fruit and vegetables every day, you’ll get all the vitamins you need to grow. But you’ll get tired easily if you eat too much junk food, and if you tired, you won’t do as well at school.

 

3.     Complete the sentences using the first conditional. (an interactive board)  5 m.
