2. воспитывать интерес к культуре изучаемого

3. закреплять полученные знания, учить
использовать в речи устойчивые выражения.
Оформление: карта Великобритании; символика частей
Великобритании: чертополох, кислица, красная роза, нарцисс;
достопримечательности Лондона; уличные достопримечательности: телефонная будка,
такси, двухэтажные автобусы, полицейские.
Предварительная
подготовка: учащиеся
составляют диалоги, используя изученные устойчивые выражения; несколько
учащихся заранее готовят небольшие исторические справки о нескольких
достопримечательностях Лондона.

I’m very glad to see you. Today I suggest you to travel around London.
Who can answer what London is it? Of course it is the capital of Great Britain. But before we start our traveling. Let’s repeat the wirds that will be
necessary for us.

-Look at the map. There you
can see Great Britain which consists of 4 parts: Scotland on the north, England
on the south, Wales is near England and the small part of the country is Northern Ireland is on the east. All the parts have their capital. England
– London, Wales- Cardiff, Scotland- Edinburgh, Northern Ireland- Belfast.

- Now let’s listen to some
new facts about the most interesting places of London as the capital of Great Britain.
Westminster Abbey is a symbol
of English tradition at its best. The coronations of nearly all English kings
and queens since William the Conqueror have taken place here. Many of them are
buried within the Abbey.
Beneath the roof of this
Gothic building there are also the graves and memorial slabs of statesmen,
philosophers, men of letters and other distinguished people. Here you can see
memorials to Issaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Geoffrey Chaucer, Alfred Tennyson,
Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy.
I want to tell you about Tower
Bridge.
Tower Bridge was
opened in 1894. it takes its name from the Tower of London. The hydraulic
mechanism can raise and lower the bridge in about one and a half minutes. The
covered walkway between the two towers is opened to the public and offers a
spectacular view of London.
The city’s greatest monument,
St. Paul’s Cathedral was built by Sir Christopher Wren between 1675 and 1710
to replace the old Cathedral that was largely destroyed in Great Fire of 1666.
Christopher Wren is buried there.
Among the many memorials to famous men within the Cathedral are the tombs of Wellington, victor of Waterloo, and Nelson, hero of Trafalgar.
